Shropshire Towns and Rural (STAR) Housing are an arms-length organisation managing homes on behalf of Shropshire Council. We are committed to creating quality homes and vibrant communities by listening to our residents and delivering excellent housing services.

Make a real difference where it matters most. At STAR Housing, we’re committed to creating a better future—and that means supporting some of our most vulnerable residents to live safely, independently, and successfully in their homes. As an Intensive Housing Management Officer, you’ll be at the heart of that mission.

The role

This is a rewarding, hands-on role where you’ll deliver a person-centred housing management service—supporting residents in temporary accommodation and independent living settings to sustain their tenancies and move towards independence.

What you’ll be doing

  • Acting as the main point of contact for residents
  • Managing tenancies, including sign-ups, reviews and early interventions
  • Supporting residents with rent, benefits, and tenancy sustainment
  • Carrying out property inspections and ensuring homes are safe and compliant
  • Working with internal teams and partner agencies to provide joined-up support
  • Supporting vulnerable customers, including those facing homelessness, domestic abuse or mental health challenges

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in housing management, homelessness or supported housing
  • Strong knowledge of tenancy and support needs
  • A compassionate, resilient approach with the ability to build trust
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and work both independently and as part of a team

A supportive environment where you can make a genuine impact every day. A role that combines housing, support and community outcomes.

Please note this role involves working with vulnerable residents and may expose you to challenging situations—full support and training will be provided.

Join us in making a difference in our communities by providing essential housing services and ensuring the safety and comfort of our tenants.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.
