Rural Action Derbyshire is seeking an experienced and motivated Rural Community Development Officer to support and strengthen rural communities across the county. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering affordable rural housing initiatives, enhancing community buildings, and promoting long-term sustainability and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise awareness of affordable rural housing and Rural Exception Sites
- Support communities with housing advice, feasibility studies, and housing needs surveys
- Build strong relationships with parish councils, town councils, and community groups
- Oversee the community buildings and village halls membership scheme
- Deliver the ‘Pathway to Sustainability’ programme supporting net-zero goals
- Develop innovative and inclusive community engagement approaches
About You
- Proven experience in community development (public or voluntary sector)
- Strong partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills
- Confident, professional, and collaborative communicator
- Passion for supporting rural communities
- Charity sector experience is desirable but not essential
