Rural Action Derbyshire is seeking an experienced and motivated Rural Community Development Officer to support and strengthen rural communities across the county. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering affordable rural housing initiatives, enhancing community buildings, and promoting long-term sustainability and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raise awareness of affordable rural housing and Rural Exception Sites
  • Support communities with housing advice, feasibility studies, and housing needs surveys
  • Build strong relationships with parish councils, town councils, and community groups
  • Oversee the community buildings and village halls membership scheme
  • Deliver the ‘Pathway to Sustainability’ programme supporting net-zero goals
  • Develop innovative and inclusive community engagement approaches

About You

  • Proven experience in community development (public or voluntary sector)
  • Strong partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Confident, professional, and collaborative communicator
  • Passion for supporting rural communities
  • Charity sector experience is desirable but not essential
