About The Role
We are recruiting a Second Chef to join our hospitality team. Working as a Second Chef at Runwood Homes, you will deliver hotel and restaurant-standard meals, supporting the Head Chefs and taking the lead in their absence. This role involves both Waterfield House and Brewster House, which are located a short distance apart.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all stages of food preparation meet the highest standards for the well-being of residents.
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with the menu and company requirements.
- Comply with Food Safety & Hygiene regulations (England 2013 / Northern Ireland 2006).
- Maintain quality of meals in terms of presentation and taste.
- Manage portion control procedures to minimise waste.
- Accommodate individual dietary requirements (e.g., high-calorie, low-sugar) by following appropriate charts or adapting dishes.
- Maintain safe, healthy, and efficient working environments through necessary systems and checks.
- Store all food and other items correctly.
- Monitor stock, ensure effective rotation, and place orders when required.
- Deputise for the Head Chef when needed.
About You
- Relevant experience in a catering environment.
- Secure understanding of special dietary and nutritional requirements.
- Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification, and ideally an NVQ Level 2.
- Warm, motivated, and passionate, with a commitment to quality and high standards.
