Since 2014, Runway East has been on a mission to destroy boring offices. Across London, Bristol, Birmingham, Bath, and Brighton, we create flexible workspaces packed with perks like Cake Wednesdays and Friday drinks trolleys. As a proud B Corp, we’re committed to making a positive impact on people and the planet, supported by a passionate and friendly team.
As a Community Associate, you’re the heartbeat of your Runway East site. This is a genuinely varied, hands-on role - part hospitality, part operations, part community-building. No two days look the same, and that’s exactly what our team loves about it.
A significant part of this role is physical and practical. You’ll spend a good chunk of your day on your feet - doing site checks, keeping our spaces looking great, and rolling up your sleeves when things need fixing. It’s the same care and standards you’d bring to a top-tier hospitality role, applied to a workspace environment.
Alongside that, you’ll be the face our members see every day - building real relationships, running events, handling admin, and coordinating with your wider team to keep everything running smoothly.
Your home base is Bristol, but this role covers both Bristol and Bath - so depending on the week and where we need cover, you could be at any of our South West sites. All our sites have great teams and brilliant member communities, so you’ll get to know different spaces. If you like variety and don’t mind a bit of travel, it’s a genuinely fun way to work.
Your time will roughly break down like this - though every site and day varies:
- ~50% Site checks, cleaning & maintenance - keeping kitchens, communal spaces and facilities in top shape.
- ~20% Member interactions - naturally woven throughout the day.
- ~20% Admin - managing our helpdesk, member comms, and keeping on top of day-to-day coordination.
- ~10% Events - hosting our member initiatives, from Cake Wednesdays to monthly community events.
Key Responsibilities
- Site checks & housekeeping; conduct regular cleaning and compliance checks to keep spaces safe, beautiful, and functioning.
- Member support; be the go-to person for members, from a quick chat on the stairs to handling a facility issue calmly and efficiently.
- Operational troubleshooting; coordinate with your team and the right stakeholders to get issues sorted quickly.
- Community events; deliver our popular member initiatives and bring the energy that makes them special.
- Cross-team collaboration; work closely with your Community Manager and colleagues across sites.
Who You Are
- Hands-on and gets stuck in; you take pride in a spotless, well-run space.
- A natural with people; you enjoy building day-to-day relationships.
- Calm under pressure; you prioritise, communicate, and keep things moving.
- Detail-oriented; you notice the things others miss and take action.
- A team player; you show up for your team and celebrate wins together.
- Experienced in hospitality or high-touch customer service; experience in a similar environment is a real advantage.
Benefits
- Salary: £28,000
- Time Off: 31 days including bank holidays, plus an extra day for every year at Runway East. We also give you your birthday off and extra time off over the Christmas break.
- Wellbeing: Private health & dental, gym discounts, mental health support, and a Bike2Work scheme.
- Growth: personal development budget and learning resources.
- Community: Two workdays per year for charitable activities, team outings, and epic annual trips.
