Since 2014, Runway East has been on a mission to destroy boring offices. Across London, Bristol, Birmingham, Bath, and Brighton, we create flexible workspaces packed with perks like Cake Wednesdays and Friday drinks trolleys. As a proud B Corp, we’re committed to making a positive impact on people and the planet, supported by a passionate and friendly team.
As a Community Associate, your role goes far beyond reception duties. You'll be blending customer service and operational excellence to deliver an exceptional member experience. If you thrive on variety, enjoy problem-solving, and love building connections, this role is for you.
This is a genuinely hands-on role. Think hospitality with office hours: you're on your feet, covering a lot of ground, holding high standards across the building, and building real relationships with the people around you. If you've worked in hospitality, front of house, or a high-touch service environment, you'll feel right at home. If you're looking for something largely desk-based, this probably isn't it. This role runs Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm, with occasional late finishes for events.
No two days are identical, but here's roughly how your time breaks down:
- ~20% Member interactions - building real relationships as you move around the building. Floor rounds, reception, events - you're always out and about, rarely stuck behind a desk.
- ~20% Admin - managing our helpdesk, member comms, and day-to-day coordination.
- ~50% Site checks, cleaning & maintenance - keeping kitchens, communal spaces and facilities in great shape. You'll cover a lot of ground; it's an active role and this is the core of it.
- ~10% Events - delivering our member initiatives from Cake Wednesdays to monthly community events. You'll work to proven formats with real budget behind them, so you can focus on the energy rather than starting from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular cleaning and compliance checks to keep spaces safe, looking great and fully functioning.
- Be the go-to person for members: a quick chat on the stairs, handling a facilities issue, or just being a familiar face that makes their day better.
- Coordinate with your team and the right stakeholders when things go wrong (they will!) - calmly and quickly.
- Deliver member events and bring the energy that makes them land.
- Cross-team collaboration; work closely with your Brighton team and colleagues across other sites (London, Birmingham, Bristol, Bath).
Who You Are
- Hands-on and gets stuck in - unfazed by physical tasks, and takes pride in a spotless, well-run space.
- A natural with people - can switch comfortably from chatting with a startup founder to a senior exec, and genuinely enjoys building day-to-day relationships.
- Calm under pressure - when multiple things go wrong at once, you prioritise, communicate, and keep going without it showing on your face.
- Detail-oriented - you notice the things others miss and act without being asked.
- A team player - you show up for your colleagues, share knowledge across sites, and celebrate wins together.
- Experienced in hospitality, front of house or high-touch customer service - you already know what it means to hold high standards in a busy, people-facing environment.
Benefits
- Salary: £28,000
- Time Off: 31 days including bank holidays, plus an extra day for every year at Runway East. We also give you your birthday off and extra time off over the Christmas break.
- Wellbeing: Private health & dental, gym discounts, mental health support, and a Bike2Work scheme.
- Growth: personal development budget and learning resources.
- Community: Two workdays per year for charitable activities, team outings, and epic annual trips.
