We are looking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join our Progress Mentor team. This is an ideal post for an individual who can mentor students and ensure they are making strong academic progress, while also providing high-quality support, guidance, coaching and challenge. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the progress and pastoral care of learners and is able to quickly establish strong relationships with young people, remove barriers to learning and help students achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will be committed to creating an inclusive environment in which all students feel valued, supported and able to succeed. They will help learners develop effective study skills, resilience and independent learning habits through coaching approaches and the principles of VESPA, while encouraging students to aim high and progress to positive and ambitious university, apprenticeship and employment destinations.
At the same time, the post-holder must be rigorous in maintaining high expectations, standards and positive learner behaviour in line with college systems and expectations. You will plan and deliver the Tutorial curriculum, conduct regular one-to-one review meetings with students and provide pastoral support across the 16-19 programme.
A Level 3 qualification (or above) is essential, as is successful experience of supporting, guiding or mentoring young people. An appropriate teaching qualification is also essential. You will need the skills to motivate, challenge and inspire learners with different abilities and needs. In addition, you must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and a willingness to undertake appropriate training is essential.
