The Runshaw College Supported Internship Programme is a partnership between DFN Project Search, Progress Housing Group, Lancashire County Council and the Department for Work and Pensions. A Supported Internship Programme is designed for young people aged 16-24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The goal of this programme is to support the transition from education to a position of paid employment (16+ hours per week).

The key focus of the Employability Coach is to ensure that the people we support:

  • Have the opportunity to develop relevant skills for employment
  • Gain work experience in a large business
  • Increase their independence
  • Achieve their aspirations
  • Are empowered to make decisions and choices around their future employment
  • Are kept safe

You will work alongside a tutor, supporting the intern throughout planned work experience within the host business/businesses, as they gain skills relevant for employment. The key outcome is for interns to access long term employment, either with the host employer or elsewhere upon completion of the academic year.
