We are looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals who would enjoy using their skills and experience to support and inspire our learners.
This is a fantastic opportunity for retired teachers and education professionals, graduates considering a career in teaching or individuals with relevant skills and experience who would like to make a positive difference to the lives of adults or young people.
Working alongside our experienced teaching teams, volunteers will support adult learners studying Functional Skills English or 16-18-year-old students studying Modern Foreign Languages, helping them to develop their knowledge, skills, confidence and enjoyment of learning.
You do not need to be a qualified or teacher-trained teacher to volunteer with us. We are looking for volunteers who:
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Are enthusiastic, positive and approachable
- Are keen to work with adults or young people and support them to succeed
- Have the ability to relate well to individuals and build positive, supportive relationships
- Can encourage learners to develop their confidence and achieve their potential
- Have a genuine enthusiasm for English or Modern Foreign Languages and enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience
- Are committed to creating a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
As a volunteer, you will:
- Support teaching and learning activities in the classroom
- Work with individual learners or small groups
- Help learners develop their knowledge, skills and confidence
- Provide encouragement and constructive feedback
- Work alongside experienced and supportive College colleagues
- Contribute to the College's commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion
Flexible volunteering opportunities are available, recognising that the time individuals are able to give will vary.
You do not necessarily need teaching experience. What is most important is your enthusiasm, your ability to engage and relate to individuals and your commitment to helping learners succeed.
In return, you will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to our learners, use your skills and experience in a rewarding way, work alongside experienced colleagues and become part of the friendly and supportive Runshaw College community.
Volunteers make a valued contribution to the success of our learners. This is a voluntary, unpaid opportunity.
