We are seeking a reliable and experienced Recovery Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles and goods, often requiring specialised driving skills and mechanical knowledge. This role involves operating various types of vehicles, including flatbeds, and ensuring timely deliveries and recoveries. The ideal applicant will possess strong communication skills, a clean driving record, and previous experience in recovery environments.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including flatbeds and recovery lorries, to transport vehicles and goods to designated locations.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections prior to each journey to ensure safety and compliance with road regulations.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of cars/vans, ensuring secure placement during transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during transit.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, recoveries, and vehicle inspections.
- Perform basic mechanical checks and minor repairs if necessary, utilising mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols during operations.
- Provide excellent customer service by representing the company professionally during all interactions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial driving operations.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Experience with flatbed vehicles or recovery lorries is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge sufficient to perform basic vehicle inspections and minor repairs.
- Strong communication skills for effective coordination with team members and clients.
- Previous experience operating a flatbed or similar specialised vehicle is advantageous.
