We’re working with an outstanding contractor to recruit an Environmental Coordinator to join their West Sussex based Head Office. With a strong project pipeline heading into 2026, this is a great opportunity to join a business that values professional development, responsibility, and a supportive work–life balance.

In this role, you’ll support a wide range of local and regional projects, helping to ensure that construction activities are delivered in line with environmental legislation, planning requirements, and best practice. You’ll work closely with technical, preconstruction and site teams to embed environmental considerations into day-to-day project delivery.

The company has a well-established presence across the South Coast, delivering infrastructure, marine, and environmental projects for local authorities, private clients, the Environment Agency, and water companies.

Duties include:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and company standards across active sites.
  • Develop, implement, and review CEMPs, waste management plans, and permit applications.
  • Monitor site performance, analyse data, and prepare accurate reports for audits and client submissions.
  • Work with ecologists, archaeologists, and specialist consultants to support environmentally responsible project delivery.
  • Coordinate subconsultants and integrate their work into overall project requirements.
  • Prepare and support environmental permits and licences, including MMO, EA and water-related consents.
  • Provide environmental input for bid submissions, focusing on sustainability, permitting, and risk.
  • Manage documentation, reports, and technical environmental analyses.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, designers, engineers, and clients to maintain high environmental standards.
  • Lead investigations into environmental incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and training to raise environmental awareness on site.
  • Support internal and external audits, including ISO 14001 certification.
  • Assist with sustainability initiatives such as biodiversity net gain, carbon reduction, and circular economy practices.
