We're working with an outstanding marine and civil engineering contractor to recruit a Buyer. The company has a long history of delivering marine projects along the South Coast, from Kent to Devon, helping to protect shorelines, improve ports, strengthen sea defences, and support the region's water infrastructure. With several new projects starting between now and next spring, they have a strong pipeline of work confirmed through 2026.
The Buyer will support the Senior Buyer to manage the full buying process of construction materials and products. It is essential you have experience of working in a heavy civil engineering environment, working with specialist suppliers to build lasting, reliable relationships.
Buyer Duties:- Maintain supplier performance records, approved supplier lists, and support QHSE audits.
- Procure materials, plant and services directly from suppliers, managing enquiries, negotiations and orders.
- Provide cost advice and analysis to estimators and project teams.
- Coordinate materials, plant and logistics to drive efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Support the procurement team, deputise when required, and help develop junior staff.
