Fixed Term Teaching Assistant Level 2 – Rumworth School

Grade E Scale Point 11 to 17. Required as soon as possible.

Employer: Bolton Council. Location: Bolton.

Salary: £28,142 (Point 11) to £31,022 (Point 17) FTE, pro‑rata £21,167–£23,333 (rate based on 2025‑26).

Salary Grade: Grade E. Working Pattern: Term time plus 5 days. Working Hours: 32.5 hours weekly. Contract Type: Fixed Term for 12 months.

Closing date: 9am on Monday 29th June 2026. Interview Date: 1st July 2026, 2nd July and/or 3rd July 2026 (exact date and timings TBC).

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support for students in KS3, KS4, and KS5 across the school.
  • Work within small teaching groups and high adult‑to‑student ratios.
  • Support learners with a range of SEND, including:
    • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties
    • Complex Needs
    • Autistic Spectrum Conditions
    • Hearing and Visual Impairment
    • Physical Disability
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
  • Assist with curriculum delivery in subjects such as Science, Design Technology, Forest School, Art, Music, PE, and ICT.
  • Contribute to the distinct curriculum models for Year 8–11, including a formal curriculum with a modified mainstream approach and basic‑skills consolidation classes.
  • Support external accreditation pathways such as GCSEs, ASDAN, BTEC, Functional Skills, Entry Level Certification, and Sixth Form vocational or independence pathways.

Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in both maths and English.
  • Demonstrated good personal skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT.
  • Experience working with students with SEND or in special school settings is desirable, especially in primary or secondary contexts.
