Rumworth School is seeking a fixed term Teaching Assistant to support student needs across the school, providing general assistance in KS3, KS4 or KS5. Rumworth School is a highly regarded special school, serving students aged 11‑19 with an EHCP and varied SEND needs including Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, Complex Needs, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Hearing and Visual Impairment, Physical Disability and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will champion education, supporting students to become Confident, Resilient and Independent, working within small teaching group sizes and high adult‑to‑student ratios. Year 7 operates as a Foundation Year with class‑based transition, delivering core learning. Years 8‑11 follow a differentiated curriculum: some follow a modified mainstream approach; others consolidate basic skills in base classes. All students access external accreditation at the end of KS4 and during KS5, including GCSEs, ASDAN, BTEC, Functional Skills and Entry Level Certification. KS5 students also follow suitable Sixth‑Form vocational or independence pathways.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Applicants must demonstrate good personal skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT, and will be assessed during the interview.
  • Experience in mainstream or SEND special school settings is desirable.
