- Strawberry picking: May - Oct
- Cherry picking: July
- Raspberry picking: July
- Apple picking: late Sep - Oct
- Deskinning tunnels, removing bags off table tops: Nov
- Planting trees: Dec - Mar
- Planting Strawberries: Feb - Mar
- General farm work: throughout the whole course
*These are the approximate months of carrying out certain tasks if resources, weather permitting.
Physical Stamina: This work will involve heavy lifting (e.g. tray of strawberries/cherries weigh up to 5 kg, a bucket of apples weigh approx. 12 kg), pushing barrows with trays of picked fruit, a lot of bending, crouching and stretching will be involved on a frequent basis so requires someone who is physically strong, dexterous and able to perform repetitive tasks.
Accuracy: Fruit pickers must carefully, yet quickly, inspect fruit for signs of bad quality fruit.
Weather: Must be willing to work in poor weather conditions, as well as in hot weather and mud.
