We are seeking a Project Design Engineer to join a large infrastructure project based in London, working 3 days a week. This is an inside IR35 contract position requiring proven civils design experience. The Project Engineer will be part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme, reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define design, engineering, and technical requirements;
- Lead the delivery of all Civil Works Programme (CWP) designs, from requirements definition to acceptance, including managing the Engineering & Technical budget, resources, and supply chain to ensure successful delivery to the CWP Delivery teams;
- Integrate constructability considerations and design within the Civil Works Programme, coordinating with Site Establishment and Offsite Infrastructure.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Knowledge of design activities in heavy civil engineering structures, including reinforced concrete and structural steel, with familiarity with current standards such as British Standards;
- Experience in external works, including drainage, utilities, surface paving, earthworks, access, and construction logistics, with knowledge of UK design standards;
- Proven ability to manage designs and teams, including design integration and delivery management;
- Experience providing technical assistance and collaborating within a technically oriented delivery team;
- Experience working with technical teams and suppliers, providing technical direction;
- Experience working effectively within project teams.
