The Electrical Engineering department sits within Operations and is a group of 1000 professionals located around the globe, that delivers critical electrical infrastructure projects in all major solution areas. My client are growing their UK based team due to demand and are now seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support a variety of projects within the UK and wider EMEA region. You would work hybrid with 3 days per week in office, 2 days from home. This role will give leadership to their global design teams who produce drawings, SLDs, studies, reports and more. As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will review and manage the overall design activity, interface with clients and keep the delivery schedule on track. Solar PV and BESS and other renewables, other power generation projects such as Waste-to-Energy plant design, Data Centre design as well as supporting the design of grid level infrastructure. You’ll support the solutions with a focus on balance of plant, grid connection, substation design and transmission infrastructure. Mentorship and development of their UK based Graduate Electrical Engineers will be a further aspect of the role. Complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Typically supports multiple projects on complex technical challenges. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares and reviews complex engineering calculations. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Serves as a technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance to project teams. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification. Sound understanding of UK Grid Code and relevant regulations, with significant experience on UK based electrical engineering projects. Experience with High Voltage (HV) electrical engineering design. AIS or GIS at 132kV or above. Knowledge of Overhead Line and/or underground cables. Underground cable sizing and understanding of routing methods/considerations. Intermediate knowledge of procurement & contract administration.
