Are you a technically fluent Project Manager with a solid engineering background and a passion for delivering high-impact scientific energy projects? This is a rare opportunity to take a leadership role in the commissioning of one of the UK's most advanced fusion energy research systems.
Join the team delivering the MAST Upgrade - a flagship experimental tokamak - and take ownership of the Double Beam Box commissioning phase. This high-energy beam system plays a crucial role in simulating the extreme conditions inside a fusion reactor, and your leadership will be key to its successful integration and operation.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the day-to-day commissioning activities of the Double Beam Box system.
- Manage a multidisciplinary team of commissioning engineers and technicians.
- Drive project delivery, maintain progress, and report against key milestones.
- Generate and maintain financial reports and spend profiles aligned to the fiscal year, working closely with finance and programme stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and project governance standards.
- Act as a key point of coordination between engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
- Proactively resolve project delivery and technical issues as they arise.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering technically complex engineering projects.
- Fluent in engineering principles and confident communicating with technical teams - you "speak engineer."
- Comfortable producing and managing financial documentation such as budget profiles and forecasts.
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Solid understanding of CDM regulations, engineering governance, and safety requirements.
- Professional project management qualification (e.g. APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or similar).
- Deliver a project at the forefront of clean energy innovation.
