Position: Contract

Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset

Duration: 12 Months Rolling

Day Rate: £410 p/d PAYE + 36 days annual leave / £560 p/d Umbrella

At Rullion, we're proud to partner with major players in the nuclear and renewable energy sector. We're currently seeking a Mechanical Surveillance Field Engineer to join the growing team on site, supporting the quality and compliance of mechanical installation across the project.

Principal Accountabilities

As a key member of the Site Quality Surveillance Team, you'll provide oversight and engineering input on all mechanical installation activities, with a focus on pumps, tanks, and rotating equipment. Your efforts will ensure contractors meet performance, quality, and safety expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting site surveillance on mechanical installation work - ensuring it meets project specs and industry standards.
  • Monitoring and validating pipework, pump, and tank installations, identifying any deviations or non-conformances.
  • Collaborating with Construction Superintendents and Quality Engineers to proactively address and resolve quality issues.
  • Contributing to quality KPIs and reporting across your area of responsibility.
  • Reviewing quality documentation and ensuring proper record-keeping of inspections, sign-offs, and technical approvals.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent vocational route).
  • 5-10 years' experience in the field, with proven knowledge of:
  • Pipework and mechanical system installation
  • Rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors
  • Storage tank installation
  • Solid understanding of quality assurance frameworks, including ISO 9001.
  • Site-based experience within complex industrial environments (nuclear, energy, or heavy industry preferred).
  • Strong communication, reporting, and organisational skills.

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with large-scale mechanical erection and installation practices.
  • Familiarity with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and QA/QC documentation.
  • Working knowledge of CDM regulations and UK construction HSE standards.
  • Basic French (helpful due to project collaboration dynamics, not essential).
  • Confidence using digital tools for site inspections and reporting.
