Are you passionate about driving change and continuous improvement in a dynamic and innovative environment? UKAEA is looking for a dedicated Change and Transformation Specialist to support our transformative projects and help shape the future of project management at the forefront of nuclear fusion research. This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Portfolio Management Office (PfMO) and partner with senior leaders to embed best practices, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and implement impactful change management strategies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement & Lessons Learned: Lead the rollout of the Lessons Learned Platform, conduct quarterly trend analyses, and drive a culture of learning. You will work to ensure that valuable insights are shared across projects, empowering teams to adopt positive changes and continuously improve.
  • Strategy Development: Craft strategies to build a culture of continuous improvement and overcome resistance, fostering a learning environment where change is embraced and becomes the norm. Measure the long-term impact of these changes and ensure sustainable results.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Analyze lessons learned and trends from project data, presenting findings that drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvements across UKAEA's projects.
  • Communication & Engagement: Collaborate with the Head of PfMO to implement a cohesive communication strategy that unites the project community across UKAEA. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a sense of unity and promoting knowledge sharing among project professionals.
  • P3M Hub Management: Oversee the P3M Hub, an online platform designed to centralize resources, best practices, and templates for project professionals, enhancing collaboration and streamlining access to critical information.
  • Change Management Expertise: Act as an internal expert on change management, advising on best practices for embedding transformation within projects, programmes, and senior management teams. You will support UKAEA's Corporate Change Board and provide insights to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including HR, Learning & Development, and Communications, to ensure integrated and collaborative approaches to change management across the organization.
  • People Management: Lead and inspire your team, focusing on staff development, performance management, and ensuring alignment with UKAEA's values, particularly in equality, diversity, and inclusion.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience & Qualifications: Project Programme or Portfolio qualification (e.g., APM PMQ, Prince2, MSP, MoP) or equivalent experience. Proven experience managing projects or programmes with budgets around £1M. Solid understanding of change management principles in project and programme environments. Expertise in delivering effective communication strategies and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership. Proactive problem-solving and the ability to think outside the box to deliver creative solutions. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to foster collaboration across teams.
  • Desirable: APMG Change Management Foundation qualification. Deep knowledge of change management methodologies (e.g., ADKAR, Kotter, Lewin, McKinsey 7-S Model). Experience with tools such as Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, and Power BI.
