We are looking for a Senior Billing Specialist. The role is based in Edinburgh with hybrid working, also with frequent trips to Glasgow. This is a permanent opportunity within our clients Energy Team - a group dedicated to reducing energy costs, improving procurement, driving efficiencies, and supporting renewable generation across the business. This role plays a key part in ensuring the organisation pays only for the energy they consume - accurately, efficiently, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the contract with the external Bureau Service to ensure energy invoices are validated accurately and align with agreed standards.
- Overseeing the accuracy and timely payment of all energy bills, and implementing processes to minimise errors.
- Handling billing queries with electricity suppliers, resolving discrepancies, and keeping records up to date.
- Making sure all sites are on the optimal tariff and capacity level by analysing usage patterns and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Essential Skills
- Strong report writing and excellent written communication.
- Ability to analyse complex data, identify trends/anomalies, and solve problems.
- Confidence working with Excel and databases to interpret and manage data.
- Skilled at presenting technical information in a clear, accessible way.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of industrial/commercial energy charging structures.
- Understanding of the utilities environment.
- Experience with financial reporting or accounting processes.
- Familiarity with Energy Management Database tools (Optima, SystemsLink, TEAMS, Stark, STC, etc.).
- Degree-level education in a commercial or analytical field.
