The Sizewell C Project Team is expanding, and we are looking for a talented Engineering and Technical Lead – Marine & Tunnelling to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This role is integral to the Civil Works Programme (CWP), contributing to the design and delivery of essential elements of Sizewell C’s infrastructure, including marine and tunnelling components. By joining us, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping the UK meet its Net Zero goals through the development of sustainable energy infrastructure. Principal Accountabilities Technical Leadership: Define design, engineering, and technical requirements at the Basic Design level. Design Assurance: Coordinate assurance activities for Marine and Tunnelling designs against technical requirements, ensuring alignment with project goals. Stakeholder Collaboration: Manage relationships with Responsible Designers, the Design Authority, and Technical Directorate while integrating designs across other Civil Works Programme areas. Intelligent Customer Role: Ensure all design and engineering work adheres to required standards and maintain surveillance of project deliverables. Resource Management: Oversee the E&T budget and associated resources to deliver projects on time and within budget. CDM Compliance: Ensure Principal Designer duties under CDM regulations are properly discharged. Quality Assurance: Support construction and manufacturing quality initiatives, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards. Governance: Represent the Civil Works Programme in project controls, performance management, and governance forums. Temporary Works: Provide technical oversight of temporary works design and specialist engineering activities. This position includes nuclear safety responsibilities, as activities performed in this role could directly impact nuclear safety. Essential Knowledge & Skills Expertise in design and engineering for: Heavy civil engineering structures (e.g., tunnels, shafts, reinforced concrete, and structural steel). Marine works (e.g., offshore shafts, permanent/temporary works). Multi-discipline design and integration for design and build (D&B) contracts. Leadership of technical teams, including suppliers. Familiarity with nuclear industry standards (e.g., RCC-CW). Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively across organisational levels and stakeholders. Desire to provide technical assistance and collaboration within a technically driven delivery team. Essential Qualifications & Experience Degree-level education (BSc) in a relevant field. Demonstrable experience in the nuclear sector or similar regulated environments. Desirable Skills Postgraduate qualification (MSc) in a related field.
