The Quality Assistant supports the implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities within the Joint Design Office (JDO). This entry-level role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in quality practices and a keen interest in developing their skills in a regulated engineering environment. The role contributes to maintaining compliance with internal standards and supports continuous improvement initiatives across the JDO.
Operating Environment
The JDO is a site-based engineering organisation integrating Responsible Designer (RD) and third-tier designers to resolve site-based design issues. The Quality Assistant works within this collaborative structure, supporting the Quality and Improvement Manager and engaging with various JDO branches to help ensure quality processes are followed and documented appropriately.
Framework & Boundaries
- Supports QA/QC activities under the guidance of the Quality and Improvement Manager.
- Operates within the Quality Manual and Surveillance Plan.
- Assists with internal audits and quality reviews.
- Helps maintain documentation and records in line with ISO standards and HPC requirements.
- No direct responsibility for managing teams or leading audits.
Principal Accountabilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining quality documentation and records.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of internal audits.
- Help track non-conformances and improvement actions.
- Contribute to lessons learnt and improvement initiatives.
- Provide administrative support for quality tools and dashboards.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with HPC IMS, ISO 9001, GSR-3, and other relevant standards.
- Respond to basic quality-related queries and escalate as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Basic understanding of quality principles and documentation.
- Some experience supporting or participating in audits.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Willingness to learn and develop within a regulated environment.
Desirable
- Exposure to ISO 9001 or similar standards.
- Experience in engineering or construction environments.
- Training or certification in quality (e.g., CQI Foundation level).
