Hinkley Point C continues to set new benchmarks in large-scale engineering, and we're searching for an experienced Marine Operations Delivery Lead to play a pivotal role in the planning, coordination and delivery of critical Marine Abnormal Indivisible Loads (AILs). If you come from the Nuclear, Energy, Chemical, Petrochemical or Power Generation sectors and have experience in port operations, marine logistics, heavy haulage or freight forwarding, this is a rare opportunity to apply your specialist expertise on a once-in-a-generation project.
Role
As a Marine Operations Delivery Lead, you will oversee the safe, efficient and coordinated movement of high-value project cargo-supporting construction operations across multiple marine facilities including S-Shed at Avonmouth and Combwich Wharf. You will work closely with the Senior Marine Delivery Lead to ensure that marine logistics activities meet all safety, quality, time and cost expectations, while contributing technical input across procurement, planning, implementation and operations. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-security, multi-disciplinary environments and enjoy the challenge of solving problems in real time.
Principal Accountabilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of critical marine logistics services to a construction workforce of approx. 7,500.
- Provide technical expertise for the receipt, transportation, storage and load-out of Abnormal Indivisible Loads (AILs).
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations, safety expectations and site standards.
- Act as client interface for cargo valued in excess of £1bn, maintaining excellent relationships with service partners.
- Develop and implement marine shared services plans aligned to project strategy.
- Monitor contractor competence and escalate capability gaps when required.
- Drive proactive intervention to prevent issues, using a collaborative 'one team' approach.
- Support the development of policies, procedures and technical specifications within the marine operations function.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Degree-level education in a relevant discipline.
- Strong technical background in marine port operations and waterborne AIL delivery.
- Experience with heavy haulage, oversized load logistics, or freight forwarding.
- Background in large-scale construction projects within highly regulated sectors.
- Experience of developing and working to budgets.
- Comfortable operating in high-security, dynamic environments.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to working with local supply chain partners.
Desirable Skills:
- Behavioural Safety Programme certification.
- IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent.
- Project management qualifications (PRINCE2/APM).
- Understanding of CDM Regulations.
- Experience within nuclear or similar regulated environments.
