We are currently recruiting for a Senior Nights Engineer to join a well-established and fast-paced food manufacturing business. This is a key leadership role within the engineering team, offering real ownership and responsibility on shift. The successful candidate will lead the night engineering function, ensuring plant reliability, rapid breakdown response, and strong collaboration with production. There will be an initial 3-month transition period on days (6am–6pm) before moving permanently onto nights.
The Role
- Lead and coordinate the night shift engineering team
- Prioritise and manage reactive breakdown response
- Carry out hands-on electrical and mechanical fault finding
- Support and drive planned preventative maintenance
- Liaise closely with production supervisors to minimise downtime
- Contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with food hygiene standards
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience within food manufacturing or FMCG (essential)
- Strong multi-skilled background (electrical & mechanical)
- Confident PLC fault finding (Siemens / Allen Bradley / Omron experience advantageous)
- Experience leading or supervising engineers on shift
- Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving ability
- Relevant engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
