Overview
Ruislip Stars Nurseries are looking for a new Early Years Apprentice.
You will be studying toward your Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Level 3 (£8 - £11 per hour depending on age and experience).
About the Employer
The nursery practitioner will be working as a key worker for the daily needs of the children between six months and five years.
The practitioner will also support the delivery and care of the school provision.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a programme of activities suitable to the age range of the children attending the setting.
- Support with the collection and drop-off of school children from local schools.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures; report safeguarding concerns to the designated safeguarding officer or relevant agencies.
- Communicate and engage with the children at all opportunities; take daily observations.
- Monitor children’s development and address gaps using the Footsteps system.
- Arrange outings for children and complete risk assessments for approval by the preschool lead or deputy manager.
- Organise cooking activities, ensuring safety with risk assessments approved by the preschool lead or deputy manager.
- Attend parent review meetings alongside the deputy manager for children in your key group.
- Prepare the children’s records and targets for your group as a key worker.
- Undertake domestic duties within the nursery/preschool (e. g., preparation of snacks, cleaning of equipment).
- Record accidents/incidents on the provided forms, share with parents, and log with the administrator.
- Be a good role model and promote a healthy lifestyle to the children.
- Ensure the environment is clean, stimulating and safe for the children; keep the attendance register up to date as children arrive.
- Work as part of a team: attend out-of-hours activities (training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings, local fairs, Christmas activities) and support the wider team.
- Develop your role within the team and support placements and volunteers with guidance.
- Promote a positive team ethos and effective working partnerships with colleagues; model positive behaviour and language.

- Working Week: Will vary; typically Monday – Friday, 7.00am – 7.00pm.
