Introduction
Ruislip Stars Nurseries are looking for a new Early Years Apprentice.
You will be studying toward your Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Level 3 (£8 - £11 per hour depending on age & experience).
About the Employer
The nursery practitioner will be working as a key worker for the daily needs of the children between the ages of six months and five years.
In addition, the practitioner will also be supporting with the delivery and care of the school provision.
Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate a programme of activities suitable for the age range of the children attending the setting.
- Support with the collection and drop off of school children from the local schools.
- Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures; report any safeguarding concerns to the designated safeguarding officer or relevant agencies.
- Communicate and engage with the children at all opportunities.
- Take observations on the children daily.
- Ensure that you are monitoring the children's development and identifying and addressing any gaps using the Footsteps system.
- Ensure that children have opportunities to go on outings, with risk assessment approved by preschool lead or deputy manager.
- Ensure that children have opportunities to do cooking activities, with risk assessment approved by preschool lead or deputy manager.
- Attend parent review meetings alongside the deputy manager for children in your key group.
- Prepare the children's records and targets in your group as a key worker.
- Perform certain domestic jobs within the nursery/preschool, for example, preparation of snacks and cleaning of equipment.
- Record any accidents/incidents, share with parents, and provide to the administrator to log.
- Be a good role model and promote a healthy lifestyle to the children.
- Ensure the environment is clean, stimulating and safe for the children.
- Keep the register up to date as children arrive.
- Attend out of working hours activities such as training, staff meetings, parent’s evenings, summer fayre and Christmas activities.
- Develop your role within the team.
- Support and engage with all staff to ensure a good team ethos and effective partnership with colleagues.
- Role model positive behaviour and language.
- Agree and complete all mandatory and non-mandatory training.
- Assume responsibility for your own CPD log.
- Liaise with parents, staff and other professionals.
- Foresee the needs of special needs children and provide appropriate guidance, liaising with the setting's SENCO/manager.
- Ensure children are collected on time by someone authorised by the parents.

Training Outcome
There is a possibility of being offered a full-time role after successful completion of the apprenticeship.
