Lead the Café and Kitchen Team by example and encouragement in the delivery of excellent customer relations and experience.
Set up Café and prepare the team and facility to greet and serve customers at designated opening time to create a positive first impression.
Maintain a clean and organised environment at all times – ensuring that tables are promptly cleared and cleaned and reset ready for new customers and that the café area is presentable at all times.
Liaise with Chef regarding the menu for that day to ensure café and staff are prepared for service.
Ensure customer orders are taken accurately and transmitted effectively to kitchen and baristas.
Assist in the development of the Café Serve Team. Build, lead and train them – with grace and discipline - in accordance with the relevant standards of hygiene, and oversee quality control.
Ensure all team members are aware of ingredients and allergens in each dish, and that they are able to effectively communicate this information to customers.
Work as part of the wider team to ensure smooth running of the kitchen and café, attend internal and external meetings as required, liaise with events team about catering and event support.
Ensure that all machines and equipment are in working order and maintained through regular servicing.
Follow the cleaning schedule and ensure all health and hygiene standards are achieved.
Check and record equipment and food temperatures and ensure all documentation is correct as required by legislation and food hygiene standards.
During pack down ensure the Café and serving areas are left secure, clean, tidy and prepped as necessary for the following day.
Assist the Manager in keeping accurate records of monthly expenses and revenues, stock checks etc.
Coordinate and build on existing relationships with suppliers.
Maintain healthy relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are fulfilled.
Continually improve the standard and quality of the services provided.
Assist the Manager with the billing and cashing up procedures, liaising with the finance team.
Work closely with the café manager, chef and team to create an excellent customer experience.
In the manager’s absence take over complete responsibility for the smooth running of the Café and Kitchen, staff rotas and leadership.
Manage the operation of the Play Area to ensure it is a safe space for under 7s to play. Ensure that adults respect the rules and fulfil their responsibilities.
