Resident Matron for a boys' boarding house of approximately 50 boys aged 13‑18. The post holder will be responsible for safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of students, the smooth running of domestic arrangements, and the lead liaison with the cleaning supervisor, house handyman, catering team and the organisation of house functions together with the non‑resident matron.
Responsibilities
- Safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of all students.
- Ensure the smooth running of housing, including cleaning, catering and maintenance.
- Lead the organisation of house functions and events.
- Co‑ordinate with the cleaning supervisor, house handyman, catering team and the non‑resident matron.
- Maintain positive relationships with young people, including building rapport and providing support.
Qualifications
- First aid qualification (essential).
- Full driving licence (essential).
- Experience in a residential or school setting (essential).
- IT literacy, good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and flexible approach to duties.
- Experience safeguarding and child protection (essential).
Working Hours & Compensation
46 hours per week, Term Time Plus – 34 weeks. Salary £29,870 per annum including residential allowance. The role includes accommodation in a one‑bedroomed apartment.
Start Date & Closing Date
Start date 1 April 2026 or sooner. Closing date 19 January 2026.
