About the role

Do you want to make a difference? You have an exciting opportunity to be part of our Environmental Health Team within Regulatory Services. You’ll be part of a team delivering a quality service to residents, on issues that are often complex and can have a negative impact on quality of life. This role sits within the commercial regulation side of Environmental Health. You will be involved in supporting wider activities such as skin piercing and tattoo regulation, health and safety enforcement, commercial nuisance investigations, and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental crime regulations. You’ll be responding to service requests and enquiries, carrying out inspections, enforcing legislation where appropriate and providing relevant specialist expertise. Environmental Protection Officers are also expected to deputise and support the management functions of the team leader. This is a Maternity Cover role up to 12 months in duration.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated professional Environmental Protection Officer with experience of working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to solve problems and address community concerns. You’ll have experience of using enforcement powers in an appropriate and relevant discipline and experience of leading enforcement investigations and implementing a range of enforcement interventions. Alongside this you’ll need an ability to deal effectively with challenging members of the public and other customers and be able to assimilate complex and conflicting information in order to make sound judgements and recommendations. Familiarity with Civica Cx would be advantageous.
