About the role
This is an important and highly visible front-line role representing the Council on a daily basis to all Borough users and residents whilst ensuring that the highest standards of waste and recycling collections are met at all times. Duties will include collecting refuse and materials for recycling from properties throughout the Rugby Borough as well as trade waste throughout our current operational area. You will also be doing street sweeping operations as needed.
About you
A Class 2 large goods vehicle licence (suitable to drive refuse collection vehicles up to 26 tonnes) is essential for this role. You'll need an understanding of health and safety legislation (including manual handling) and Road Traffic Regulations, alongside the ability to read maps and follow existing planned routes. The ability to push wheeled bins and lift container/bulky waste items of household waste and be able to work alone with minimal supervision and as part of a team is also required. You'll also need to be flexible with working additional hours as required and the ability to work Bank Holidays and additional statutory days.
