About the role

Working as part of a team, you will be supporting customers to find solutions for their housing issues and will do this by providing housing and financial advice and support, liaising with landlords and developing personalised housing plans for customers with a firm focus on the prevention of homelessness.

Key activities include –

  • Outreach work with those who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping, in hospital and require support to return home
  • Providing housing options, advice and guidance to those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness with the aim to assist with prevention of homelessness at the earliest possible stage
  • Administering applications from residents approaching the Council as homeless or threatened with homelessness.
  • The provision of temporary accommodation including the provision of private sector leased accommodation.
  • Determining applications to join the Councils Housing Waiting List
  • Administering applications for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Discretionary awards and providing financial advice and support to clients

About you

Youll be an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officers with at least 2 years\’ experience of working in Homelessness Prevention / Relief within a local authority.

You will have the experience and skillset to make enquiries and homelessness decisions, in accordance with the Homeless Reduction Act,2017.
