About the role
The Street Scene Team have a great opportunity for a Highways Operative. Youll be undertaking a variety of groundworks and highways work, with a strong emphasis on Tarmacking, digger driving and NRSWA street works.
The working week consists of 37hrs (Monday Friday) with flexibility to work overtime to meet specific demands. Regular working in adverse conditions could be required with the role.
About you
You will need to hold a valid Class 1 HGV licence.
The Street Scene Team carries out the following works and the ideal candidate will be proficient in at least several of these:
Excavation / drainage
Tarmacking (hot lay, asphalt / bitumen)
Construction of footpaths / steps
Groundwork
Installation of street furniture
Watercourse clearance & maintenance
Youll need to be able to work easily as a part of a team and use your own initiative when required. Youll need to be polite, courteous, and have a reasonable amount of initiative and independence.
You should be able to work to a very high standard and at an acceptable pace to ensure the customer receives the quality service they expect from our team. A strong focus on health and safety must always be maintained.
Basic IT skills will be required for this role although in house training will be provided.
Applicants are required to provide their own basic tools for this position and a full valid UK driving license is essential.
