About the role

We\’re looking for a dedicated Benefits Officer to join our team. In this vital role, you\’ll be on the front line, helping residents in our community navigate the benefits system and access the financial support they need.

This isn\’t just about processing forms—it\’s about compassion, accuracy, and problem-solving. You\’ll be using your skills to guide people through challenging times, ensuring they receive the correct support and helping to build a stronger, fairer community for everyone.

What you\’ll do:

  • Process Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims accurately and on time.
  • Guide residents through the application process and provide clear, empathetic advice on their entitlements.
  • Investigate and verify information to ensure all claims are correct and compliant with regulations.
  • Collaborate with other teams and external agencies to resolve complex cases and provide comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate records and a high standard of work in a fast-paced environment.

About you

  • Experience processing Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction claims and Discretionary Housing Payment applications.
  • Knowledge in this area, ideally with experience using Civica OpenRevenues and Workflow systems (training can be provided).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional approach.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to work accurately with complex information.
  • A natural problem-solver who can manage a varied workload and prioritize effectively.
  • A commitment to helping people and a positive, can-do attitude.
