We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef / Baker & Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and food preparation, with a keen eye for detail and a love for creating delicious baked goods. You will play a vital role in our kitchen, ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and presentation. This position requires excellent teamwork and leadership skills, as you will be supervising junior staff and collaborating with the kitchen team to deliver exceptional results.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods according to established recipes and standards.
- Prepare and present breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea options.
- Bake cakes and scones from scratch.
- Support outside catering orders for events.
- Contribute ideas to seasonal and special menus.
- Maintain cleanliness and uphold food safety protocols.
- Manage inventory of baking supplies and ingredients, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Train and supervise junior bakers and kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages skill development.
- Experiment with new recipes and techniques to enhance the product range and keep up with industry trends.
- Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure optimal results for all baked items.
- Assist in the development of seasonal menus or special offerings as required.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Baker or in a busy kitchen within the similar culinary field.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, baking methods, and pastry arts.
- Excellent understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising or managing teams preferred.
