At Rudi, we design and deliver retail environments that are as smart, engaging and human as the people who use them. We are a close-knit, creative and forward-thinking team, and we are now seeking for an Experienced Development Designer to join us as we continue to grow.
This is a role for someone who enjoys turning strong concepts into robust, production-ready solutions, while balancing creativity with commercial realism. You’ll thrive in a supportive, relaxed and ambitious environment, working closely with colleagues who genuinely value collaboration, shared knowledge and doing things properly.
The role
You will be responsible for progressing concept designs into fully developed manufacturing drawings for UK and global production, taking ownership of development from concept through to delivery. A strong understanding of cost, budgets and value engineering will be essential to ensure solutions are not only beautifully designed but also commercially viable.
Key responsibilities
- Produce detailed drawing packs with exceptional attention to detail, including Bills of Materials, General Assemblies, sub-assemblies and individual part breakdowns
- Champion a “right first time” approach, reducing rework, waste and unnecessary cost
- Translate design intent into efficient, manufacturable and cost-effective solutions
- Maintain clear awareness of project budgets, material costs and production constraints
- Create all required documentation, including presentations, specifications, instruction sheets, end-of-life documentation and electronic files
- Initiate and oversee prototype development, manufacture and assembly, with cost and feasibility in mind
- Critically assess prototypes, feeding learnings back into production proposals to optimise quality, cost and performance
- Provide remote and on-site technical support to fitting teams and project managers during delivery and installation, ensuring installations are completed correctly and efficiently
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience using Inventor, SolidWorks or equivalent
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, including:
- Sheet metal and metal fabrication
- Injection moulding
- Acrylic fabrication
- Joinery
- LED illumination and digital display integration
