The Doorman is the first smile our guests see and the lasting impression they take with them. At Rudding Park, you\’ll deliver a warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming service that sets the tone for a luxurious and memorable stay. Stationed at the front of the hotel, you will greet guests personally — often by name — as they arrive, ensuring every arrival feels special from the very first moment. Your role will include assisting with luggage, overseeing smooth arrivals and departures, and maintaining the pristine appearance of the entrance and surrounding areas. You will work hand-in-hand with our concierge, reception, guest relations, and front-of-house teams to deliver seamless service in our exceptional spaces. What We Are Looking For
- Valid UK Driving licence, with at least two years driving experience in order to be insured to drive guests vehicles (Further criteria will be required to ensure you are eligable for our insurance)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Warm, welcoming personality with strong guest service orientation.
- Good physical fitness: able to stand for extended periods, assist with lifting / moving luggage.
- Attention to detail: in presentation, safety, and ensuring high standards in environment and service.
- Ability to remain calm, polite, and efficient under pressure.
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
- Flexible attitude to shift work (early mornings, evenings, weekends, bank holidays).
- Previous experience in a similar role (doorman / front-of-house / valet) desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a warm welcome by meeting and greeting all guests upon arrival in the hotel car park
- Greet all guests arriving at the hotel with a friendly, professional manner. Welcoming them by name where applicable.
- Assist guests with opening doors, unloading vehicle passengers, and handling luggage.
- Coordinate with valet/parking staff (if available) to ensure smooth flow of arrival and departure traffic.
- Advise guests of hotel amenities, dining options, spa services, and special events, and direct them appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and presentation of entrance and exterior areas (paths, driveways, steps, entrance doors).
- Monitor and manage the entrance area for hazards (wet floors, ice, obstacles) and report safety or maintenance issues.
- Help to load/unload guest vehicles as needed and assist with vehicle arrival/departure logistics.
- Ensure guest luggage is delivered safely and efficiently to/from the vehicle and stored securely if required.
- Be aware of and uphold hotel policies, including security, fire safety, and first aid procedures.
- Liaise with other departments (Front Office, Concierge, Housekeeping) to coordinate guest arrival, room readiness, luggage handling etc.
- Maintain high standards of personal grooming and uniform. Be visible, approachable, and professional at all times.
- Assist during busy periods, events, or when extra cover is needed in related guest services roles.
- Show guests to rooms when needed and to other areas of the resort
- Supervise car park ensuring cars are unloaded and then parked away from entrance

- Enhanced pay 50p per hour for evening work after 7pm (Sunday – Thursday), £1 per hour for weekend day work until 7pm (Saturdays and Sundays), £1.50 per hour for evenings from 7pm (Friday and Saturdays)
- Service Charge (Tronc) earn up to an additional £5,000 per year
- Company sick pay for up to 4 weeks
