You can be based either in our Fylde Coast or Manchester office, with occasional travel between sites. You will be working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm OR 8am-4pm.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting on-premises and hybrid infrastructure (servers, storage, networking, virtualisation) under supervision.
- Helping monitor systems, apply patches, and carry out basic performance tuning to keep services stable and available.
- Assisting with upgrades, migrations, and deployments as part of infrastructure projects.
- Supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
- Assisting with administration of cloud services such as Azure or AWS (VMs, storage, networking).
- Helping with cloud migrations, configuration changes, performance tuning, and cost monitoring.
- Supporting the implementation of cloud security controls and compliance requirements.
- Helping monitor security tools for threats and vulnerabilities, and maintaining endpoint protection, firewalls, and access controls.
- Applying security patches in line with policy and assisting with audits and compliance by providing technical evidence.
- Acting as a junior technical contact for basic infrastructure, cloud, and security issues, and working closely with Development, Change, and senior infrastructure colleagues.
What we’re looking for:
- College BTEC, A-Levels, or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, or a related subject (or equivalent experience).
- 1–2 years’ experience in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering, or relevant apprenticeship/coursework/portfolio work for entry-level candidates.
- Basic hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux server administration, networking, and virtualisation.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and tools (firewalls, antivirus, SIEM).
- Developing troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn and follow standards.
- Ability to document processes and maintain technical records with guidance and communicate effectively in a team.
- Relevant certifications such as Azure Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA Security+, or similar are desirable but not essential.
