Permanent Full Time position at Deritend, part of the Rubix Group of Companies, which was founded in 1898 and serves more than 3,500 customers in the UK. We specialise in optimising asset performance, including motors, gear boxes, pumps, machining induction, condition monitoring and fabrication services.
As a Site Services Engineer, you will be primarily involved in the removal, installation, dismantling, rebuild and refurbishment of plant and assets in the Water industry and Industrial facilities sectors. This includes pumps, gearboxes, motors, generators and similar equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring all onsite inspection and assembly documentation are completed and that procedures, policies and work instructions are followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Company, Site & Client, H&S policies and procedures at all times, ensuring the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
- Routinely promote a safe working culture.
- Work in an efficient and effective manner, maintaining an organised and controlled workspace.
- Conduct root cause and fault-finding analysis on electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
- Document findings, causes and corrective actions, recommending repairs, replacement parts and spares requirements into customer reports.
- Undertake on-site maintenance, repairs and refurbishment where appropriate and feasible.
- Dismantle and remove rotating equipment and other mechanical equipment as required.
- Fully dismantle, clean, prepare, repair, refurbish, rebuild and test completed equipment as required.
- Re-install all types of rotating equipment and other mechanical equipment following workshop repair, conducting field tests and commissioning as per agreed contract.
- Undertake routine service and maintenance work on clients' sites.
- Attend breakdown work on clients' sites as required.
- Work in the Company's workshops as business needs dictate.
Key Skills / Qualifications:
- Mechanical apprenticeship, time-served and indentured to ONC & HNC, NVQ, or equivalent qualifications.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar, field-based role and working environment.
- Flexible approach to working times in line with the company's reactive nature.
- Knowledge of basic H&S requirements on a construction / production site.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of water process equipment, plants and industry.
- Knowledge of general heavy industry such as steel, paper, power etc.
- Confined space qualification.
- Working within ATEX standards.
- Overhead operator license.
- Counterbalance forklift license.
- Lifting and slinging qualification.
- Water Hygiene qualified.
- Thames Water Passport.
- H&S passport (CSCS, CCNSG).
- Multi-skilled (electro-mechanical capability) an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Practical understanding of Engineering principles.
- Ability to read, and understand, all technical aspects from drawings and parts lists.
- Good understanding of mechanical repair techniques.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to quality of work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team and customer facing.
- Ability to liaise with subcontractors, cranes, scaffolding, plant access, etc.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Initiative to work on own or as part of a team.
- Ability to manage a varied workload.
- Willing to undergo additional training as required / where necessary.
