Location: Warrington

About the role:

  • Work with Rubix colleagues and customers on next generation materials in support of future product needs and give guidance in the areas of material selection and problem solving, including when customers visit.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and approvals are up-to-date and maintained and reports to customer when requested.
  • Working in conjunction with the Design Team, specify required physical properties to optimise component performance and provide data for finite element analysis whilst also looking to improve designs for maximum reliability, through a detailed understanding of geometry - material interaction.
  • Working in conjunction with production staff in testing of rubber compounds used, determining the best processing temperatures and times for improved productivity or problem solving.
  • Actively participate in international, multi-discipline, product development teams, that could involve formulating of conventional materials, supplier development, problem solving, failure analysis, compliance advice etc.
  • Conduct failure analyses, product complaint analyses, interpreting test results and preparation of test reports and product data sheets.

Mon - Fri - 08:30am - 5:00pm

30 Minute lunch

40 Hours per week

About you:

  • Knowledge or Elastomers, Materials, Polymers with suitably recognised University Qualifications (MSc, PhD etc)
  • Be proficient in speaking, writing, and understanding English.
  • Some industrial experience in the qualified field of expertise.
  • Experience or knowledge of rubber compounding, milling, processing, and testing.
  • Trained in use of laboratory test equipment, especially hardness, specific gravity, tensile strength, compression set, FTIR, TGA and DSC
  • Proficient user of Microsoft based programmes and willing to learn programmes used internally.
  • Have an analytical thought process.
  • Be self-disciplined and be able to work independently.
  • Be able to work well with others and represent Rubix in a positive way to customers and suppliers.
  • Able to work on different projects at the same time and meet the deadlines accordingly.
  • Be organised and follow company rules in terms of safe work and good housekeeping practices.
  • Be punctual.
  • Work accurately and produce accurate and full reports
