We are seeking a commercially driven and technically competent Business Development Manager to drive sustainable growth by developing new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with OEM and EPC customers. The successful candidate will leverage their technical understanding, consultative sales approach, and industry knowledge to identify opportunities, deliver tailored engineering solutions, and contribute to the achievement of strategic revenue and profitability objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities within strategically targeted industries and customer segments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, EPC contractors, and key decision-makers to generate sustainable revenue growth.
- Engage with customers to understand technical and commercial requirements, providing tailored solutions that address operational challenges and deliver measurable value.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor, supporting customers with product selection, specifications, applications, and performance considerations.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, technical, and internal sales teams to develop customised solutions where appropriate.
- Qualify bespoke solution opportunities to ensure effective utilisation of engineering resources and alignment with business objectives.
- Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and commercial offers that clearly communicate features, benefits, and value delivered.
- Lead commercial and contractual negotiations, ensuring agreements support both customer requirements and company objectives.
- Apply effective pricing strategies that balance customer value, profitability, market conditions, and competitive positioning.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline, accurately forecasting opportunities and tracking progress against agreed targets.
Key Skills:
- Bachelors degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
- Experience in business development, technical sales, or account management within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, fluid power, hydraulics, pneumatics, or related sector.
- Proven track record of developing business and securing contracts with OEM and/or EPC customers.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles involving technical products, engineered solutions, and commercial negotiations.
- Demonstrable success in achieving sales growth and profitability targets.
- Experience working with CRM systems, sales forecasting, and pipeline management tools.
- Strong commercial awareness and consultative selling capability.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of engineering products and their industrial applications.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, CRM systems, and business reporting tools.
- Frequent travel throughout the UK to visit customers, attend meetings, and support business development activities will be required.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
