The Role

Permanent Full Time Deritend, part of the Rubix Group of Companies, was founded in 1898 and serves more than 3,500 customers in the UK. We specialise in optimising asset performance, including motors, gear boxes, pumps, machining induction, condition monitoring and fabrication services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure workflow procedures are followed.
  • Operate various machines and tools to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.
  • Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results including sizes and illustrations.
  • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes (e.g., horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring lathes).
  • Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
  • Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed.
  • Understand materials and applications as required.
  • Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g., precision surface facing), broaching procedures, and Babbitt bearing work.
  • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders.
  • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
  • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to band saw, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
  • Ensure that all company H&S policies and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of yourself and your colleagues.
  • Promote a culture of working safely as routine.
