Knowlton & Newman, part of the Rubix Group, provide 24/7 engineering services including the repair, overhaul, installation, and maintenance of pumps, motors, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic equipment and a wide range of industrial machinery across multiple sectors.

We are looking for an Electrical Supervisor to lead electrical teams on planned works, reactive maintenance, and project installations. You will ensure all electrical activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in line with company standards and UK regulations. Technically competent electrician responsible for ensuring that electrical work carried out by a company meets required safety, legal, and quality standards—especially under certification schemes like NICEIC.

The role will also involve attending site to scope new works, providing technical input for pricing, and supporting the development of accurate quotations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Supervision
    • Supervise electricians and apprentices on site.
    • Plan, allocate, and monitor daily tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
    • Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks, and team updates.
  • Project & Work Delivery
    • Oversee electrical installation, maintenance, and testing works.
    • Ensure projects are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and RAMS.
    • Coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
    • Monitor progress and report issues, delays, or variations to the Project Manager.
  • Safety, Compliance & Quality
    • Ensure work is completed in accordance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), Electricity at Work Regulations, and company H&S policies.
    • Keep up to date with changes in regulations and industry standards.
    • Conduct site inspections to ensure safe working practices.
    • Complete and review documentation including permits, risk assessments, method statements, and quality checks.
  • Testing & Certification
    • Carry out electrical testing, fault finding, and commissioning.
    • Complete electrical certificates and reports accurately.
    • Ensure compliance with NICEIC or equivalent accreditation standards.
    • Act as the main contact during external audits/assessments.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication
    • Act as a key point of contact for clients, site managers, and contractors.
    • Attend coordination meetings and provide progress updates.
    • Maintain strong customer relationships and resolve site issues promptly.
  • Administration & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, and site activities.
    • Submit daily or weekly reports to management.
    • Assist with preparing variations, quotations, and job completion documentation.

Key Skills / Qualifications

  • Essential
    • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
    • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
    • Testing & Inspection (2391 or equivalent).
    • Strong supervisory or team-leading experience.
    • Experience in industrial or commercial electrical installation or maintenance.
    • Full UK Driving Licence.
    • AM2 / Gold Card.
  • Desirable
    • SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
    • First Aid at Work.
    • IPAF, PASMA, or confined space training.
    • Experience within marine, industrial, engineering environments.
    • Thames Water Passport.
    • Good knowledge of WIMES / Thames Water Specifications.
    • Understanding of control systems, motors and PLC's.
