Overview
Deritend part of the Rubix Group of Companies was founded in 1898 and serves more than 3,500 customers in the UK. We specialise in optimising asset performance, including motors, gear boxes, pumps, machining induction, condition monitoring and fabrication services.
Responsibilities
- Ensure workflow procedures are followed.
- Ensure plant maintenance is carried out and recorded.
- Carry out workplace risk assessments and method statements where necessary.
- Provide guidance and technical support to personnel and apprentices.
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.
- Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
- Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
- Inspect various kinds of electromechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
- Test condition of windings to EASA or AEMT standards.
- Illustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to units electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage or intended serviceability.
- Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electromechanical equipment.
- Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
- Rewind various kinds of electromechanical equipment, including but not limited to; single phase, three phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotors and transformers. Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding.
- Test rewound electromechanical equipment according to EASA or AEMT standards and document test results.
- Operate specialised repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to; winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI system, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
Skills and Experience
- Preferably high school diploma, plus five years of experience in electric motor rewinding (single-phase, three-phase and DC).
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
