Role Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented fully Qualified Management Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) to join our finance team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2028, providing maternity cover and additional support. The role will play a key part in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and driving improvements in financial processes. The successful candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and able to work independently on complex reconciliations, legacy issues and process enhancements. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, organised professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
  • Produce detailed financial reports, including P&L accounts, variance analysis, and balance sheet summaries.
  • Provide commentary and analysis to support management decision-making.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual budget setting process across the organisation.
  • Lead the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are accurate and completed on time.
  • Identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Take ownership of credit card coding, ensuring all receipts are submitted and VAT is correctly accounted for.
  • Perform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and suspense accounts, resolving outstanding items.
  • Manage income reconciliations and ensure all income records are complete and accurate.
  • Assist prepare VAT returns and carry out data checks and reconciliations.
  • Support projects such as Direct Debit implementations, ensuring accurate processing and reconciliation.
  • Lead internal and external audit processes, including preparing audit file, documentation and responding to queries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, and controls.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Fully qualified Management accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in an accounting/finance role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex discrepancies.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, data analysis, and complex formulas.
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of working effectively with finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Practical knowledge of VAT principles (partial exemption knowledge desirable).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Experience in leisure, hospitality or service-based industries with multiple income streams.
  • Experience in month-end reporting cycles and financial controls.
  • Understanding of VAT in mixed supply environments.
  • Experience using TechOne.
