Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an Environmental Engineer on a permanent basis based in East Anglia. We are seeking an Environmental Advisor to support our growing Renewables department within our Energy business. This role will support our Vanguard Renewables project, working with the client and other contractors on site to ensure full environmental protection of the site and adherence to client and legal requirements.
Primary tasks and duties:
- Travel to sites as required to undertake site inspections
- Provide environmental advice and support to project teams as required
- Co-ordinate pre-construction environmental assessments (e.g. ecology surveys, archaeology surveys) and advise on the programming of works in relation to constraints observed
- Manage waste records used to populate Aureos and client decarbonisation tools
- Co-ordinate the acquisition of permits from environmental regulators (e.g. waste management licences for yards)
- Support project teams to discharge environmental planning conditions
- Conduct inspections of active work zones, and audits of key environmental documentation
Secondary tasks and duties:
- Write key environmental documentation where required
- Support delivery of business wide sustainability targets
- Undertake/support investigations for environmental events on site
Requirements:
- An Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or a related field, preferably a post graduate qualification, coupled with experience in a relevant industry (e.g. infrastructure, environmental/planning/statutory body/consultancy dealing with major consenting projects).
- Valid driverβs license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Applicable CSCS Card.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an environmental focussed role, preferably in the infrastructure sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK wide environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Experience in the electrical utilities industry is desirable.
- Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and developing management plans to help discharge conditions of planning consents.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to multiple projects simultaneously.
- Where projects are located in remote locations regular overnight stays away from home may be necessary.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- IT literate and a comprehensive understanding of Windows based programmes to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Capability to produce maps using QGIS would be an advantage.
