Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Highways Site Manager on a 6 month rolling contract based in Shetlands.
Role Summary
We’re working with a specialist utilities and civils contractor delivering a major highways scheme. They’re looking for a hands-on Site Manager to oversee open cut trenching and carriageway reinstatement works on a busy live carriageway project. You’ll be responsible for leading teams on site, managing permits and traffic management, and ensuring compliance with NRSWA and Highways standards.
- Manage day-to-day site operations for open cut trenching and reinstatement
- Oversee excavation, sub-base prep (Type 1/Type 3), and tarmac surfacing works
- Coordinate with traffic management teams to implement safe systems of work
- Liaise with local authorities and ensure permits and TM plans are in place
- Maintain compliance with NRSWA, Chapter 8, and CDM regs
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure quality control across all works
- Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and HSEQ inspections
