Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Hardware Engineer on a 12 month contract based in Northern Ireland.
Role Summary
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Hardware Engineer, reporting to the HW Functional Manager for Monitoring & Diagnostics (M&D), within Grid Automation (GA). The M&D product line is a class leading vendor of sensing devices and systems to Electrical Utilities and Industrial customers. The product line spans sensing of multiple asset types and has a broad portfolio of advanced technology, which aid customers to understand and optimize the operating condition of key assets such as HV/MV power transformers and circuit breakers.
- Troubleshooting complex electro-mechanical products. Delivering workable solutions and or product improvements.
- Collaborating with wider engineering team (hardware, software, firmware engineers) to ensure delivery of updates works seamlessly in the final product.
- Run small projects to deliver customer requests (internal and external).
- Support manufacturing engineers to improve yield. Designing test procedures, test fixtures etc.
- Redesign of PCBAs due to Obsolescence/Shortages.
- Ensure adherence to HW design, including all required reviews.
- Carry out additional duties as requested by the HW Functional Manager.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent (HND with experience) in electrical/electronic or mechatronics engineering.
- Demonstrated experience of hardware/electronics design.
- Demonstrated fault finding capabilities.
- High level understanding of embedded software.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated to deliver projects efficiently and on time.
- Must be organized and have methodical approach to problem solving.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, especially on technical matters.
