Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer on a 3 Year contract, based on Sites UK Wide. This Role is outside IR35.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a major National Grid substation delivery project, working on the commissioning of new and upgraded 400kV substation assets. This is a long-term opportunity offering contract stability over a 3-year term.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out commissioning activities on 400kV substation equipment, including switchgear, protection, and control systems.
- Conduct functional testing, fault finding, and verification in line with National Grid technical standards and specifications.
- Liaise with site teams, designers, and client representatives to resolve technical issues during commissioning.
- Complete and maintain accurate commissioning documentation, test records, and reports.
- Ensure all works are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant HSE, CDM, and National Grid site regulations.
- Support handover and energisation activities as required.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrable commissioning experience on high voltage substations, ideally at 400kV or equivalent transmission level.
- Strong technical knowledge of high voltage switchgear (GIS and/or AIS).
- Sound understanding of protection, control, and testing systems on transmission assets.
