Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for 5+ Wireman & Fitters on a 6-12 Rolling Contract based in the Midlands.
We are currently recruiting experienced Wiremen and Fitters to carry out works on the NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) network across the Midlands. Candidates must hold a valid OPS 1 certificate and have experience working within a DNO environment (preferably WPD/NGED). This is a contract-based role involving HV/LV installations, wiring, panel building, and substation fit-out works in line with NGED specifications and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out HV/LV wiring, installation, and modification works on substations and distribution equipment
- Assist with installation of protection panels, control panels, switchgear, and ancillary equipment
- Interpret electrical drawings, wiring schedules, and installation diagrams accurately
- Follow and implement NGED-approved work procedures and method statements
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with NGED safety and quality standards
- Carry out on-site testing, inspections, and fault-finding where required
- Maintain clear and accurate records of works completed, materials used, and test results
- Work collaboratively with site managers, engineers, and other field operatives
Requirements
Essential Requirements:
- Valid NGED OPS 1 Ticket β Mandatory
- Demonstrable experience working on DNO or NGED/WPD networks
- Proficiency in wiring, fitting, and substation installation work (LV/HV)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of NGED/WPD safe systems of work and permit procedures
- ECS or CSCS Card (relevant to electrical discipline)
- Full UK Driving License and flexibility to travel within the Midlands
Desirable (but not essential):
- BESC & Persons (National Grid)
- Manual Handling & First Aid Certification
- NRSWA (if working in public highways)
- Additional NGED site-specific training
